Ducharme Elementary School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 school based in La Loche, Saskatchewan. The School is named in honour of Father Jean-Baptiste Ducharme who served the La Loche Mission from 1916 to 1951.

Dene High School is in the community of La Loche, which is located on the eastern shore of Lac La Loche.

The Methye Portage or Portage La Loche is on the northern end of the lake. This portage to the Clearwater River was in use for many years during the fur trade.
